I gave up on UT4 pre-alpha about 1 year ago.
Reasons? Well for the same obvious reasons that everyone else, just have a look at the forum @ https://www.epicgames.com/unrealtournament/forums/activity.php : More or less daily ever since UT4 started - People (in the past me included) complained about/requested things to be fixed :
Low FPS, Bad mouse input, unbalanced weapons, bad netcode (shots not 100% in sync client/server).
Epic way of dealing with these forum threads - which is the only place where the UT4 gamers can be heard and seen -> close the threads for further replies and sometimes even permban users involved in it. I know some players besides myself who got permbanned because we kept asking for the same things month after month, year after year and no understanding by Epic was voiced.
A few stubborn fanboys (in the UT4 forum) will always defend UT regardless of its state in the past, current or future, kept writing #pre-alpha. So I guess it's ok if it stays pre-alpha forever (soon to be 2½ years), and I guess its ok the same problems remain as long as its #pre-alpha?
I hope they can pull it off and make a successful game in the end but I can't say I believe it from what I've seen. It's not the gameplay I'm worried about mainly, it's more how you get new players playing and keep them playing long enough to realize how good the game is. Same story as all the other Quakes, UTs and Reflex basically.
