250 FPS QL League Season 2 Finished
From April 26 to June 14, 16 top Quake Live players competed in 250 FPS QL League Season 2 Group Stage, battling for a $3,000 prize pool. The lineup included 12 invited players and 4 qualified through open qualifiers. Each match awarded $20 for a win and $5 for a loss, making every game count.
After seven weeks of competition, the top 4 players advanced to the Season 2 Finals to fight for an additional $500. The playoffs of Season 2 Finals featured a double-elimination bracket between the top four finishers of the group stage. cYpheR proved dominant throughout the finals — he defeated agent twice: first in the upper bracket final (dropping only one map), and then again in the grand final with a clean 4:0 victory. Thanks to reaching the grand final through the upper bracket, cYpheR started with a one-map advantage, which helped secure his spot at the top of Season 2.
What we know so far:
* However, the final direct invite spot is still undecided: Sib_Vassek, swex and H3LLDOWN all finished Season 2 with identical records. A separate set of tiebreaker matches will be played to determine who claims the 8th and final direct invite to Season 3. The exact format is yet to be announced.
The first qualifier for Season 3 is scheduled for June 28.
