The official Telegram channel of the 250 FPS League has published an interesting breakdown of the most picked and banned maps from the second season — a small but revealing snapshot of the evolving meta in competitive Quake.

As the dust settles on Season 2, two maps clearly stood out: Sinister and Furious heights. These were the most frequently picked arenas, suggesting that players not only feel comfortable on them, but also view them as reliable choices in high-stakes matches.

On the flip side, four classic maps — Bloodrun, Aerowalk, Lost World and Hektik — saw the most bans. Once staples of competitive play, they now seem to be falling out of favor. Whether it’s due to shifts in playstyle, balance concerns, or just personal preference, players have consistently avoided them this season.

Looking ahead, the League has already launched voting for next season’s map pool — among the players themselves. The community of competitors is now tasked with shaping a balanced and exciting lineup — one that can deliver both fairness and spectacle in future showdowns.
