A new update for Blood Run, a Quake III Arena mod that brings gameplay elements from Quake Champions, has just been released. The patch adds new maps, improves existing ones, introduces champion-specific sounds, and gives server admins new tools to customize weapon spawns and game modes — including support for vampiric Lightning Gun setups and infinite ammo.

What's New in the Patch:


New Maps Added:

  • Blood for Blood (dm16) — a faithful remake of Quake Live’s Eye to eye
  • Aero A (dm11a) — an alternative take on the classic Aerowalk

Map Updates:

  • Corruption (dm4) — now includes clip brushes behind the Tri Bolt wall for improved gameplay flow
  • Venom (dm14) — crates are now silent when jumped on, enhancing stealth play

New Champion Features:

  • Added sound effects for Visor
  • New Server Configuration Variables:
    • g_starting_<WP> — defines whether a player starts with a specific weapon.
    • g_startingAmmo_<WP> — sets the amount of ammo per weapon. If g_starting_<WP> = 1, this activates. -1 means infinite ammo.
    • g_noWeaponsSpawn — disables weapon spawns on the map.
    • g_noAmmoSpawn — disables ammo box spawns.
    • g_vampire_LG — toggles vampiric Lightning Gun. The value defines how much HP is returned per hit. 0 disables the feature.

Engine Tweak:

  • Default com_hunkMegs value increased to 256 (up from 128) to fix crash issues on complex maps.

Servers Are Live:

  • PTS MOSCOW: standard duel server for 1v1 gameplay.
  • PTS SPB LG ARENA: FFA server with vampire LG-only mayhem. Server settings:
    • g_noWeaponsSpawn = 1
    • g_noAmmoSpawn = 1
    • g_starting_LG = 1
    • g_startingAmmo_LG = -1
    • g_vampire_LG = 1
