Quake Week Recap — July 7 to July 13
The second full week of July delivered a mix of high-level competition, community content, and notable developments across the Quake scene. From the kickoff of the 250 FPS League Season 3 to impressive tournament streaks and modding releases, here’s a look at what happened.
- First Round of 250 FPS League Season 3 Completed
The new season of the 250 FPS League is officially underway. The first round of matches featured several standout results, including Fog’s narrow victory over k1llsen, RAISY’s 2:1 win against swex and a surprise loss by ash to dazator. After the opening round, dazator and pavel lead the standings with two victories each.
- AGENT Wins EGB Cup #9
AGENT took first place in EGB Cup #9, defeating ARSENY twice in the playoffs, including a 3:0 Grand Final. ARSENY made a deep run, eliminating RAISY, baksteen, pavel, Fog and Nitrino, but could not overcome AGENT in either of their encounters.
- Keltz Wins Estoty Duel Tournament #158
Keltz secured his third consecutive title in the Estoty Duel series, once again defeating baSe in the Grand Final. For the second week in a row, he lost their initial meeting in the upper bracket, only to rebound in the final with a convincing win. Keltz has now won five of the last six Estoty events.
- dramiS Takes Another NAQCL Title
dramiS continued his streak in North America by winning NAQCL Duel Tournament #14. He defeated Effortless in the final, marking his twelfth victory in fifteen editions of the tournament.
- flukkz media Returns with New QC Highlights
After a hiatus of several months, flukkz media released episode #84 of its “Quake Champions Best Plays” series, featuring Twitch highlight frags from players such as rapha, RAISY, maxter, ANTOWKA and Camma. The previous video in the series came out back in November.
- Quake Traps Jam 1 Released
Map-Center has released Quake Traps Jam 1, a community-made pack for the original Quake focused on traps, puzzles, and platforming instead of combat. Built on the Arcane Dimensions framework, it features a custom hub and five challenging maps by aj_the_boomer, alexUnder, ish, Lord Asaki and PuLSaR. Some levels — particularly ish’s — are intentionally brutal, pushing players to their limits.
- Av3k Explains the Story Behind Quake’s Most Unusual Keyboard Setup
In a new video on the Endpoint Quake YouTube channel, Av3k reflects on one of the most recognizable quirks in Quake history: placing the keyboard on the lap during matches. Once a standard practice at LAN events across Russia and the CIS, this setup had practical origins and became part of the region’s competitive identity.
- Call of the Void — Crossover Mod for Quake I & II
A detailed video preview of “Call of the Void”, a crossover campaign mod for Quake II Remastered, was released this week. The mod blends content and lore from Quake I and II into a single narrative, featuring five large maps, new hybrid Strogg monsters, and full compatibility with the remastered engine.
- Quake II Frag Movie “Transcendence” Now Available in HD
Veteran Quake II player David has released an HD remaster of the classic 2014 frag movie Transcendence. The updated version preserves the original’s pacing and style while improving visual quality for modern viewing.
