October PTS Update Brings Napalm Launcher and Champion Tweaks
SyncError (Adam) posted a series of October PTS updates in the official Quake Discord channel dedicated to PTS changes. Three new builds — OCT PTS 6, 7 and 8 — include new weapon tests, gameplay adjustments, and fixes for several champions.

- Added Quake 4 Napalm Launcher as a Tri-bolt variant (WIP)
- Spawn Code
- Fixed multiple spawn logic issues across all modes

- Items & Status Effects
- Closest player now receives an item if multiple players are within pickup radius
- Quad Damage and Protection now extend duration by 30 seconds instead of resetting
- Fixed status effect timers not refreshing when DoTs (e.g. fire) were reapplied
- Weapon Knockback
- Fixed missing knockback from hitscan weapons vs grounded enemies
- Champions
- Death Knight – testing QuakeWorld-style movement
- Fixed DK’s framerate dependency and jumppad acceleration issues
- Keel – fixed ability cooldown and grenade count sync for teammates/spectators
- Added 5-minute lifetime for totems & turrets
- Fixed Doom Slayer vanity positioning
- Weapons
- Starting Shotgun fire rate: 1000 → 800 ms
- LG max ammo: testing 150 (was 200)
- CA ammo: SG 25→50, RL 25→50
- Fixed teammate volume for RL, TB, SG
- Adjusted HMG and water Railgun sounds
OCT PTS 7 — 1.27.RETAIL.201060/201892 (Oct 3, 2025)
- Spawn fixes (still under testing)
- Napalm textures skip picmip
- LG max ammo reverted to 200
- Death Knight
- Base speed 310; max speed reduced 560 → 520
- Ramp jump removed, step jump restored
- All map cubemaps rebuilt
- Shader cache updated
OCT PTS 8 — 1.27.RETAIL.201060/202311 (Oct 4, 2025)
- Death Knight
- Added Forged in Fire passive – fire DoT damage converts 50% to armor
- Fire DoT damage increased 3 → 6 per tick (Flame Strike, Charring Gauntlet)
- Fire Trail tick frequency reduced 100 ms → 250 ms
- Doom Slayer
- Removed 16 ms delay on Blood Punch health pickup
- Galena
- Totems now steal life – 50% of damage heals Galena
- Empowered totem damage reduced 75 → 50
- Removed totem lifetime limit
