As already announced, Aerowalk and Delirium have been added to the 250 FPS Quake Live League Season 4 map pool. Aerowalk needs no introduction; Delirium is a much rarer sight in tournament rotations. Here’s a short history and why this addition is interesting to note.

Delirium was created by Russell ‘bst’ Vint, the mapper also known for Terminatria (bst3dm1) in the TDM community. The map entered Quake Live with Premium Pack 18 in July 2013 and according to its original blurb, was presented not only as a duel arena but also as suitable for FFA and small Clan Arena matches. Early mentions of Delirium on ESReality date back to October 2009.

Created by Terminatria author Russell ‘bst’ Vint, Delirium is a Duel arena set in a futuristic facility. The arena consists of three levels, connecting through large, curvacious hallways. Delirium is larger than the typical Duel arena, benefitting players that can navigate through rooms quickly, and cutting off your opponent to prevent them from grabbing Yellow and Red Armors. Best suited for 2 to 6 players, Delirium is also playable in small Clan Arena and FFA matches.

Compared with the 2013 release build, Delirium has undergone a few practical adjustments. The Red Armor area saw the most visible rework. Lifts were added in the Mega Health and Yellow Armor sections. Some teleporter exits were also revised. The overall idea and routes remained recognizable, but these edits affect intercepts and item timing enough to matter in preparation. The original map file is attached to this post.

In competition, Delirium had early exposure but never became a staple. The 125 FPS crew ran two Delirium One Map Cups; cYpheR won the first, and Spart1e won the second with cYpheR as finalist. The map also appeared in the pools of 125 FPS Seasons #10, #14 and #28, in seven editions of the 125 FPS Sunday Cup and across ten FACEIT Sunday Cups during Spring 2014. After that period, it showed up only occasionally.
