Quake Brutalist Jam III (QBJ3) has been released on Slipseer. It’s a community project that’s been in development since winter 2024, with the work-in-progress mod shared with the wider mapping community in October 2025 ahead of the final release.
Despite being presented as a jam, QBJ3 is closer to a full total conversion than a typical map pack. Along with the 77-map lineup, it ships with a new weapon set, a new monster roster, new powerups and a broad visual overhaul aimed at the jam’s oppressive, gritty brutalist style.
Download the Ironwail source port, and place it within your Quake directory.
Extract the content of the QBJ3 archive with directories preserved into your Quake directory (e.g. .../Quake/).
If done correctly, Ironwail.exe should be alongside the id1 and qbj3 folders.
Launch Ironwail, open the console (Escape), type game qbj3, then press Enter.
Standalone:
Extract the content of the archive into a folder.
Run QBJ3.exe
Engines
QBJ3 was made specifically for the Ironwail source port (v0.8.1+). If you use other engines — especially the official Quake Remaster — expect issues. For best compatibility, it’s recommended to use the latest Ironwail build.
