Blood Run has received a new update. Blood Run is a Quake III Arena mod that brings Quake Champions-style gameplay elements into the game. This time, the update focuses on movement behavior, a new audio backend, map changes for Pentagram and champion updates for Ranger, Patriot and Daemia.

General changes:
  • Max speed is now capped correctly; going over the limit is only possible through rocket jumps or jump pads, and bonus speed is removed on landing
  • All health bubbles now remove acid/burning and heal if HP is below 100
  • Landing “crouch” effect reduced by half; first-person crouch height slightly increased from 18 to 20
Sounds:
  • New sound backend implemented (SoLoud with miniaudio)
    • \snd_backend 1 — new backend (default)
    • \snd_backend 0 — old Q3 backend
  • Fixed sound dropouts during mixing
  • Fixed repeated sounds being pushed out
  • Doppler effect implemented: \s_doppler 1 (default)
  • Player’s own sounds are now 40% quieter
  • Ricochet sounds for LMG/MG, LPG/PG and RG are 70% quieter
Maps:
  • Pentagram
    • Both teleporter positions fixed
    • Lower YA position fixed
    • Removed the ability to stand on the arches near RG
    • Center columns made slightly narrower
    • Small wall obstacle added between bridge and RG (as in Quake Champions)
    • Removed the ability to stand on the arch in the bridge passage
    • SG floor styling changed
    • Lighting made brighter
Champions:
  • Ranger
    • Orb reworked; splash damage now scales linearly with traveled distance up to 500
  • Patriot
    • Throwing a new turret out of bounds now destroys the existing one
    • Added turret teleport physics
    • Added interaction with lava and acid
    • Turret hum range reduced from 1300 to 1000
    • Turret deploy time set to 500 ms (was 0)
    • Target switching during firing is now almost instant
    • Powerups now affect the turret
    • Fixed menu icon bug
  • Daemia
    • Added damage sound indicator when hitting totems
    • Totems now recharge only when placing a new one; the first is destroyed if the fourth is thrown out of bounds
    • Totem sound radius increased to 400
    • Powerups now affect totems
