ye, it was he http://www.plusforward.net/post/348/QuakeCon-2014/ . will it organized this time? May be this time it will be muuuch more interesting, coz many good duel players cant play at main duel event this time, thus we could see pavel, dem0n, noctis and many other duelers - at open duel tourney?..
noctis, maybe you can ask sync or someone else about this? 125fps could give some prizepool for this, if it is a problem for id...
upd: but, in other hand - when?.. no time for this, 3 day tourney, just no time... (

In the last round, IG-BREAK and Avg-f-Em! looked like the games we've all been waiting for - finally the big clash of continents!
Do you remember the Quake-Live.tv's QC2011 (or was it 2010?) coverage? They stayed up until like 2:00 local time democasting all the stuff that wasn't streamed due to scheduling conflicts and spinning logo problems. Yes, that's 8 hours longer than today. Yes, they had more casters switching around, but I won't believe someone like Flair would refuse democasting IG-BREAK if only Jehar asked.
But this is QuakeCon.
It was not a problem with quake-live.tv.
It is a problem with Faceit and Zoot.
So you would still choose to watch the "final", as we knew that game will in fact decide the $8k winner.
And after the game, how would GTV help you? Instead you'd go and search for mvd's. Of which a XXI century equivalent is democasting which rapes anything you remember from 15 years ago. If only they did it like it was 2011.
You mean like with Lam when it come to opening up the mappool on pickups? Everyone wants it but he won't do it. Hey, it's pickup!
Still no democast, but after a 41 minute game that wasn't streamed, the producers decided to stream a single map of a bo3. WHERE DA PRODUCTION VALUE AT?!
gladly it's point tournament, so it doesn't matter much..
Of course, since it's points tournament, there are other fun points, like IG is below gHs only based on won maps, at the same time being above f-Em! based _only_ by frag net.
And luckily there's no prize for third place, because Avg are over BREAK based only on seeding (because that determined their Buchholz score after 4 rounds).
cause by the end of the day, points wise there will be Triathlon champion, and easy bracket actually pays off this way
I am curious to see how much how of a decider "your bracket" will be in duel since they are so many more capable participants especially on specific maps.
Now compare f-Em! with AiP and how they got there :)
get them in ctf, lad
;)
gotta find a good .doc
11:00 to 17:00, Quakecon local time, really preplexes me. Do people go to bed real early over there? You'd think that after 17:00 it would mark the time when the real excitement starts, instead it just ends. This to me seems more like "let's do a tournament, but only one we can cover during normalish business hours." Come on, at LAN parties time melds together and a tournament should at least try to let this be reflected in its official coverage.
I like the idea of this tournament but the coverage of it is really flawed. I don't see a reason why they couldn't try to spread out the games a bit, let it run throughout the day and further into the evening, so that we could see more games streamed live for each game mode/day.

But 4 of the Round 3 games are starting later now so i updated those.
I did just see that, great stuff.
Chance was almost snatching away the 2nd place from Evil, while Zorak ended up 14th. Zorak took a map from Rapha, while Chance got beaten by Rapha seemingly easily, yet they are 12 places apart...look at all the people Chance is in front of: Dahang, Cooller, Fazz, Tox.
I can see that this swiss-system works fairly well in chess tournaments with 32 players and 8 rounds or 64/16 etc, but this format with 16 teams/players and only 4 rounds is seriously broken :/
My fav sub-page: http://qlstats.info/quakecon-2015-tdm/top10
He'll work on CTF in the evening.
You can't really compare evil with rapha, one played in the bottom of the table, the other higher up. For really meaningful ratings, we'd need to have a full round-robin played, otherwise take the ratings and top10s with a grain of salt :) It's just for fun :)
But you could compare Cooller, who demanded every quad and stack... to 421, who's a support player and played on the same team. In my opinion, Cooller really didn't deliver here.
