Tournament Results

Overdrive Duel Cup [ Event Page ]

The Overdrive Duel Cup, which was hosted by F14m3z, occurred last weekend, with four strong participants showing up for the event. Unfortunately, due some reason or the other, a number of the anticipated participants were not available, so the event was shrunk into a four man, round robin tournament featuring HAL_9000, Tr1pwire, Lunokhod-2, and Rama. The results were a little bit shocking, but due to an unfortunate connection problem, HAL_9000 would earn a big ol' donut, and go through with the tournament with zero wins. The match of the series was a tense 4-3 victory for Tr1pwire, over Russian promoder Lunokhod-2, and the surprise result of the tournament wad definitely French newcomer Rama overcoming Lunokhod-2.

Reflex Development Update

  • "Something New and Big"
Quite a few things came to light over the past month, most of which you can find below, and TurboPixel Studios teased that something "new and big is coming." Word on the street is that the latest update will bring in new purchaseable content such as customized weapon skins, and models, to give players a way of standing out from the robot crowd, as well as fund development.

  • Upcoming Meshes
The Reflex art team having been working hard to get a whole new slew of meshes into the public, and have been showing some of their work off to the public. With an anticipated Gothic theme set to be released in one of the next few patches, YasashiiKyojin shared some interesting images with the community. Check them out below.

The new meshes mappers are hoping to get their hands on soon.

  • Mouse Input
By this point, I suspect this image has ciruculated on every Reflex based forums, and chat-room but newborn put out an image of the sort of control, and customization the developers are hoping to give players. To be quite honest I have a hard time deciphering what all these options are, but none-the-less, it's cool to see the depths the developers are trying to explore. Please note the "Learn" tab, which will hopefully be the first implementation of resources for newer players to the game, and to the genre.

  • New Robo-Goo Effects
Finally on the development, newborn also showed off some new "blood" effects. You can see from the series of pictures, that the splattering of oil all over your weapon as an enemy is fatally struck.

  • Cinematic CAPabilities
Another, shorter, movie also came out in the past month for Reflex. Demonstrating some sublime skills Bjarke, shows off exactly how quickly you can cap a flag on Monolith but rocket jumping around like a demon, going from base to base in just under six seconds.
