Nightdive Studios Teases a Major Reveal at QuakeCon 2025
Nightdive Studios, the team behind critically acclaimed remasters of classic shooters, has teased a major announcement coming to QuakeCon 2025, set for August 7–10 in Texas.
In a recent episode of the Giant Bomb EX podcast, studio representatives confirmed they’ll unveil their “next big thing” during the event. While no specific title was mentioned, the Quake community is already buzzing with speculation — many fans believe it's finally time for a Quake III Arena remaster or possibly a modern re-release of Quake 4.
The excitement is well-founded: Nightdive previously developed enhanced editions of Quake (2021) and Quake II (2023) in collaboration with id Software and Bethesda. Both releases were praised for their faithful restorations, upgraded visuals and cross-platform support — setting a high bar for what might come next.
Given that QuakeCon is traditionally the stage for major Quake and id-related announcements, the timing couldn't be better. Nightdive has also successfully remastered other iconic titles like System Shock, DOOM 64 and Blood, solidifying its reputation for bringing retro shooters to modern audiences.
The reveal is expected to take place during the main stage showcase on August 8, with live coverage via QuakeCon’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
