A small update for Quake has added Dawn of the Machine to the GOG and Epic Games Store versions. The free episode was released in August 2026 for Quake’s 30th anniversary, but was not available on those two stores at launch.

Lobby hosts can now use the Cheats menu during private co-op matches. Dawn of the Machine also receives additional options for upgrades, Bloody Nightmare, New Game+, the Super Axe and the Bloody Shotgun/Super Shotgun.

id Software has also published the episode’s QuakeC source code for modders. The code is available under the GPLv2 license alongside the source for Quake’s other campaigns and modes. The update also fixes graphics and startup issues on PC, addresses split-screen problems on Nintendo Switch and allows players to report others directly from the scoreboard.
