SyncError has published the changelog for the Quake Champions 1.31 Point Release in the official Quake Discord, as his temporary return to the project approaches its end.

Asked whether the release could still receive another change to player statistics, he said he believed he was no longer the developer in charge. He followed the reply with a farewell GIF from Ted Lasso.
Not sure, but I think I'm no longer the dev in charge.
The comment follows an earlier update in which SyncError said he had stopped working on new code and could now only address QA issues affecting features that were already in testing.
I'm no longer working on any new code. I pretty much can't touch code now unless I'm responding to a QA bug ticket for something that was already in testing.
This thing needs to be done with, so it can actually be shippable.
His comments suggest that new feature work on version 1.31 has ended, while bug fixing and release preparation are still ongoing. SyncError has not said that the build is complete or announced when it will reach the live game.

On September 16, he said he would leave “a week from tomorrow”, placing his stated departure date on Thursday, September 24. However, he cautioned that the update would not necessarily be released before he leaves.
When it ships, whether that happens before I'm gone, shortly after, or long after is not known at this time – and may depend on how quickly I wrap things up.
SyncError returned to Quake Champions on August 31 for a limited four-week period to help finish version 1.31.

What changes in version 1.31:
  • The update removes the Battle Pass, Store, Platinum and Shard currencies, loot boxes, daily login rewards, weekly and event challenges, and the champion progression reward path.
  • Most vanity content will be unlocked for all players. Third-party items and merit-based rewards, including QuakeCon belts and Golden Crowns, will remain limited to players who already own or earn them.
  • New features include a callvote system for removing cheaters or abusive players, weapon accuracy displays, thicker ally and enemy outlines, an adaptive FPS stabilizer and profile progression up to Level 999.
  • The Play Now menu will also display activity for the selected playlist and data centers. The game will recommend a data center by considering both the player's ping and the number of active players.
  • Version 1.31 adds three QuakeCon 2026 starting weapon cosmetics, two weapon shaders, a new podium and five Team Arena clan profile icons. The changelog also lists fixes for map-loading crashes and Error 103 anti-cheat false positives, alongside further changes to networking, input, audio, bots, spectator tools, maps and champions.
