Map-Center launches its first Halloween Jam for Quake
Map-Center has launched its first Halloween Jam for Quake. The event began on September 20 and will accept submissions until October 25, followed by a public playtesting period.
The jam uses a custom Halloween version of Arcane Dimensions with new monsters and assets. Sock is preparing a dedicated hub for the final release, while the organizers say additional surprises are also planned.
Mappers may choose any horror-related setting, including haunted houses, remote cabins, abandoned asylums, deep-space terror, frozen environments and liminal spaces. Experimental maps are encouraged, while custom textures, music and sound effects are allowed under the event rules. The supplied resources also include textures from Wrath: Aeon of Ruin and converted textures from Blood.
Maps must be compatible with Ironwail, Quakespasm and vkQuake. Participants must submit their .map and .bsp files together with a readme through the Map-Center Discord. The October 25 deadline will not be extended, while a release date for the completed map pack has not yet been announced.
