DreamHack Winter 2018 Duel Power Rankings
Page 3: Tier 3 - Wild Cards
Tier 3 - toxjq, GaRpY, serious, baSe, dooi - 200 to 100 points
The one thing that ties these players together is that, despite having shown great performances and results in different occasions, they've participated in too few tournaments, especially online where they have no recent results.
toxjq
The Swedish player remains one of the most mesmerizing aimers to watch, while he keeps proving every myth related to reflexes and age wrong. toxjq managed to get a 2nd place at the last DreamHack Winter, and most recently a top 8 finish and both QuakeCon 2018 and PGL. Even though he’s mostly focused on the team aspect of the game, toxjq is an extremely capable duel player and can turn any game into a nightmare for his opponent by hitting the most insane shots, so it’s no surprise he remains a fan favorite to this day.
GaRpY
GaRpY got his LAN win last year during ESWC 2017, and although underrated most of the time, he seems to always be at a good level at LAN's, managing to beat rapha to get to the Semi Finals of QuakeCon 2018, qualifying to the group stage of PGL and reaching a top 4 in this year's ESWC. Despite under performing at the Italy Esports Open 2018, he'll be someone to look out for.
serious
With some of the most impressive combat skills in the game, serious took the duel scene by surprise when in his first LAN ever, PGL, knocked some notable players out of the tournament ( Xron, Av3k, cnz) to make it to the Quarter Finals, where he ended up losing versus the winner of the tournament, rapha. Had the Serbian player taken part in more LAN's or tournaments, he would definitely be higher up on this list, but with such a small tournament list under his belt, he's one of the dark horses of the tournament.
baSe
baSe has been looking for good performances in Duel LAN's for a while, and it seems he's finally getting in good shape. With his very calculated and defensive style, he took the win at the QuakeCon 2018 BYOC tournament and managed to reach the group stages of PGL. Will be interesting to see what results he can get at DreamHack Winter since the most recent patch seems to favor his style quite a bit.
dooi
dooi made it into the top scene when he got a very impressive third place finish in DreamHack Denver. Since then, he hasn't had the best of luck with his results in duel LAN's, but at PGL he managed to reach the group stage and thanks to that, alongside a couple of online cups: second place in Quake Open League #6, he made it to this tier and built some good expectations of himself ahead of DreamHack Winter 2018.
